Core Strength
Core Strength
Core Strength is essential for you to be competitive in any sport, not just soccer. All soccer movements do, after all, incorporate your core (central torso and trunk, from which muscles work to stabilize your pelvis, spine and shoulders), so it stands to reason that if you increase your core strength you will improve your performance in many different ways:
- improving balance, stability and body control
- greater efficiency in movement
- increase your power output from legs, arms and shoulders
- reduce your risk of injury (core muscles are in effect the bodies shock absorbers)
- improvement in overall performance
Improving your core strength can help you to reduce the risk of back problems and injuries and help you to become the proud owner of your very own wash board abs.
There are many exercises which are particularly geared towards increasing your core strength and therefore improving your overall game. Many of these exercises incorporate the use of a medicine ball - a vital piece of equipment to really help you to increase your core strength.
